This large Estaurine Crocodile on the East Alligator River seeks partial shade on the river bank to help regulate body temperature. Known as an 'Ectotherm', their behaviour is determined by surrounding temperatures.

Also known as 'The Jesus Bird' for it's ability to seemingly walk on water, the Comb Crested Jacana moves gracefully on floating aquatic vegetation with large toes and claws. If threatened by predators they will submerge to escape.

Feral Buffalo were introduced to the Northern Territory in the 19th Century as working animals for early settlers. As settlements were abandoned the Buffalo were released and are responsible for major damage to vegetation and wetlands in area's like Kakadu where I found this Bull grazing.
