Lake Palace, Jamnagar

The sun came up on Tuesday morning to views of Gujarat countryside - people working in fields - some by hand, some with oxen and some with tractors. It is dry season, so there are a few irrigated fields but mostly people preparing before the wet starts in a month or two. Arrived in Jamnagar at lunchtime. This seems a relatively well off place. There are quite a few shops with whitegoods (TVs, washing machines, fridges...) and electronic goods as well as some shopping plazas. There is the usual contrasts - people and camels pulling carts in the street. The hotel is luxury compared to places just next door. Our room has air-con and our own bathroom! For the cyclists out there I have put some bicyle delivery and shop photos. There are also guys on the side of the road doing puncture repairs. This is very convenient if you forgot a spare tube or pump - I think many people here don't own spare parts anyway.

For the computer nerds, there is a photo of an HP comsultant's sign on the side of a building - multinational computing is everywhere.
