My Scholarship entry - Life in the bateyes of Dominican Republic

Dominican Republic | Monday, November 24, 2014 | 4 photos

Oh dear, here comes the existential question: who am I? I'm afraid I don't have the answer. I can however attempt to paint in broad lines some of the characteristics of my person.
First, I love photography, which has definitely been a passion for many years. In fact, I have been taking snapshots of every animate creature I encountered - or almost. I love using long words from time to time when I write because I also love literature as an art and I might write a book later - if you want an autograph, run Forest run! I speak three languages - English, French and Spanish - and I love travelling and seeing the beauty of the world, with all its sadness and cruelty. It is a strange mixture, but it is important to see both the pretty and the ugly, the heartwarming and the less convenient truths. That is what I try to depict in my pictures. Also, I am rather active, and I bike and swim frequently - I am now a certified lifeguard, yay!
Being granted this scholarship means a lot to me. Indeed, it would be an amazing opportunity to learn about travel photography and receive great pieces of advice from an admirable photographer; it would be a unique opportunity to photograph life in the Peruvian amazon. Also, I am considering becoming a photojournalist to sensitize people to the many injustices around the world and give a voice to the voiceless. This would be one step forward.
