So despite all of my travelling I only recently became acquainted with World Nomads. I thought that this is a perfect site for me, but unfortunately my timing is not great. I am in the middle of a long term nomadic experience. I got a job for the summer as a field researcher at UMass Dartmouth working with sharks both catching them and analyzing results trying to quantify stress responses in order to recommend safer fishing practices. There is one major downside to this dream job: nowhere to live.
On campus housing is available but it's very expensive and no one had the money to pay for it. I didn't, my professor didn't, and my parents didn't. I decided that I was willing to do whatever it took to work this job. So I concluded that I would spend the summer being homeless, jumping from couch to couch for a summer. I'm not too picky with my living conditions so I figured it would be fine. Borrow some food money from my parents, no problem.
Well I did it. I've been spending my time being homeless around campus for the past month and a half. It's had its high moments and its low moments, but all in all it's been one crazy adventure. I'll be documenting both past stories from the past month and a half and ongoing stories in this journal. I hope you enjoy the story of my crazy hobo summer.
