Made it to Lima, the capitol. I´m at the airport writing this update. The airport is really like any other: McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts, etc. I did spy some interesting wool pieces, of course. And other neat handicrafts abound. I saw some interesting junk food at a little stand, some warm beer, and some coca leaf tea. I think I might have to try it. Supposed to stop altitude sickness...
Met a guy who works for the Salvation Army on the way down. He´s off to Pisco, where they had the big earthquake in August. Wish him luck, that place is still a mess. I also met an insurance salesman turned elk hunter from Trinidad, Co. Small world.
So I´ve got about 5 hours to wait until I fly to Arequipa, a few hours south from here. I always forget how big Peru is...I´ll meet up with my friends there and we will hang out for a few days, then off to Cuzco, ancient wonderland. I cannot wait.
I did learn one new word so far: areoplano. As in, airplane. But to me, a plane is an avion... areoplano sounds like Spanglish, but it´s not.
That´s it for now. Going to get a little rest...Hope everyone is doing well. . .
