Food rationing in Cuba is known as Libreta de Abastecimiento, where the system establishes not only the amount of food but also the frequency a household is allowed to purchase the goods. Frankly, I took it because I liked the antique weighing scale. It was later on that I realized the story captured - together with the background of sugar, flour and the Cuban woman - which depicts the hardship the locals have to go through to get about with their daily lives.
