LONSconesClottedCream1

LONSconesClottedCream1

my public (aka Albert) is clammering for more entries and I admit I've been remiss - Miranda and I had so much fun driving all over Mallorca, and then I thought I'd be able to catch up from the Sala Miro VIP lounge at Palma airport, but despite a full bar, they had no computers!

arrived in London Tuesday night and fortunately was braced for cold wet weather - it wasn't quite as frigid that 1st night as I'd feared, but the rest of the week has made up for it - and I really don't have the wardrobe for it!  (I did get tempted into buying a T-shirt on sale at Harrod's on Wed. that has a union jack in silver crystals with 'Harrod's London' in acceptable small print underneath - but that shirt isn't much defense against the English cold)  so I'm wearing my trusty silk long pants with African print that I bought in Ojai for 50 cents, on top of silk long underwear, on top of tights - adequate but certainly not too much for this delicate California flower

went to museums in London (V&A and Kensington Palace) and had lunch with my friend Kate - just before that I'd phoned our friend Maggie's mother to catch up - and found out that Maggie had died of stomach cancer 2 years ago!  terrible and sad shock - a reminder that we have to keep up with and cherish our friends and family now because they may not always be around - Maggie and I had some great travel adventures (in fact my only prior trip to Mallorca had been with Maggie and her sister Sheila on a cheapo package holiday where British men lounged on the beach wearing handkerchief hats and turned beet red within minutes) - Maggie and I also did a package trip to Tunisia that was fantastic - she was also the one who got me into henna-ing my hair long ago - and we had so many crazy good times in London back in the day - she was a magical person

anyway I'm now in Poole visiting Nigel and Prue - it's really cold (as described above) but OK in the sunny patches - I'll really really try to upload some pix later today

Well you will be traing the vision of the beet red bloated Brits with handkerchief hats for bronzed muscled Brazilians with thongs. It will give you a chance to thaw abit before returning to the states. A least you will get to enjoy some authentic clotted cream. your in envy Jerry
