Turd still there.
By 8.15 we had made it over to the bus pick up point with all of our bags plus bits of fruit to snack on through the journey. We had been told to expect some delays due to it being holiday season. The bus was nice, the seats reclined and were quite bit and it wasn't full to bursting which was a nice change. It was nice to make our way down to the lowlands again whilst looking at the scenery however I have to say within 20 minutes I was feeling sick as a parrot. Or however the saying goes, what a ridiculous saying. I think it was all the winding that did it and once it kicked in it was near impossible to try and get rid of despite trying to with a sickness tablet. In between sleeping Liam held my hand for support but other than that I had to spend a good hour and a half trying not to be sick. I finally managed to get a bit of sleep, at which point I think Liam had woken up because when we stopped for a break he told me I had been lucky to be asleep because the Chinese lady in front was eating like a rat for the last 20 minutes.
I very oddly felt like I had a massive hangover on waking up and couldn't shake the feeling for baked beans on toast and lots of carbs, very odd. Although we had some fruit i just needed stodge so we settled for some delicious looking waffles with chocolate sauce (Liam had half chocolate half peanut butter). And each had a pot of sweet corn which is a very normal snack here.
Another couple of hours went by, with a bit of napping included, before we reached Kuala Lumpur. It was quite exciting seeing all the sky scrapers, I guess Liam as seen stuff like this before having been to America but I havnt seen so many and so tall all in one place as we were approaching. We approached from a bit lower so it looked even more impressive.
When we for off the coach it was so hot and humid again, and we were unsure of where the hotel was or how much for transport if we needed it. We we found a KFC, got a drink each and used their wifi to try and figure it all out.
It's way too far to walk so we had to take a taxi, which turned out completely ripped us off charging double what he should have. We wernt to know though so hey ho what can you do.
After settling into our room which was small but cozy, we headed out a couple of hours later to see the city and try and catch a movie! It's a 10 minute walk across a few busy roads toget to the train station, then perhaps another 20 minutes of journey from there to the main part. It's a really nice area, lots of shops and cafes, lots of people. Loads of wonderful Christmas decorations everywhere, absolutely stunning. Liam said it might not be Christmas now but he finally feels festive!
We booked ourselves in to see the hobbit, with a while to spare we roamed the shopping complex and found some food.
The hobbit was a great film, we both thoroughly enjoyed it however from sbout half way through the sound was so distorted. Any music that played was found up and down instantly and really out of tune. Liam and I both found it hilarious at first, some parts thst were meant to be serious or dramatic just had us in absolute stitches. I think the people next to us got a bit annoyed, perhaps at us perhaps at the movie.
I'm not one to complain (to the actual offenders!) but I thought with us wanting to see life of pi whilst we were here we could complain and maybe get a refund....
So off we went after the movie and complained. US! Complaining. Liam took over after a minute because he wanted to talk technical rather than " the sound was funny and I'm not very happy at all it ruined the movie". I tuned out and started munching my popcorn because I was bored, and before I knew it Liam was shaking the guys hand and saying bye. Apparantly we had been thanked for bringing it to their attention....I think we need more practice in the art of complaining to get free stuff.
After panicking over the trains due to it being very late and a very real potential for missing the last ones, we finally made it to our stop. We didn't have time to get our second chip coin, so pretended the first one we had was damaged and got through paying half of what we should....there's our free stuff now!!
When we got back to the hotel around 12am we opened our room to such an awful smell of cigarette smoke I thought somebody was in our room smoking right there and then. It was awful. Liam went down to the room to ask what on earth was going on and we were told thst although its a non smoking hotel some people do still smoke ( they don't have alarms) and it travels through the air con vents. Because we had been out and ever hint was off it must have seeped through. They brought up a machine to filter it all away but after an hour of waiting outside the room it still wasn't any better. There were no rooms to change to, so we were left with the only option of spraying a load of air spray everywhere. Karma for the train chip perhaps? Luckily the bed was comfy so by using the duvet as a mouth cover to breath through we fell asleep fairly quickly.
