Miss Davis and Mr. Hacon (hereafter us/we) have finally departed the South Island of New Zealand and are now on the way to SE Asia, via the Nicholas residence just outside of Auckland (big thanks for allowing us to share the chicken coop with Fluffy, Red, Brown and Socket for a couple of nights). With enough books to last us until we arrive in the UK (not quite the British library but close, Nicola is convinced that Christopher didn't need to pick up another book on Marxism in Auckland, but he seems to be under the misguided notion that you can never have too many), a geetar to annoy our fellow travelers/locals with v. poor renditions of Neil Young tunes from Christopher (Nicola will no doubt excel after a few weeks and be in the hunt for a Gold Geetar award at Gore next year), and enough medication to kill a rhino or the hardiest of tummy bugs (we darn well hope so on the latter), we find ourselves stepping out into the unknown, hardly into the depths of the DRC or some S. American country we didn't know existed, but for two hardy Euro/NZ centric folks it will be enough of a shock to push us out of our comfort zone (well, we hope so).
We hope to be updating this blog every couple days when we we have something vaguely amusing to pass on to you all, although more likely just to reassure our parents that are concerned for our welfare tThat would be the Davis ones, as Mumma H doesn't do worry). We will upload some pics and thoughts and hope that you get a little insight into what we hope will be an amazing adventure for us both.
We depart for Singapore tomorrow at 12:15pm... still unsure what lies ahead of us - other than the answer to how many movies we can fit into a 12 hour flight. We are excited about the prospect of spending three nights there. There is little doubt that our traveling attire will not get us into Raffles for a Singapore sling, so we will have to find a more suitable location to partake of the local nectar. After waking to -3c temps at the Davis ranch this week, and a slight increase with the relocation north we can't wait for 30c+ that awaits us tomorrow...
