Chasing the Light ~ Ohakune, NewZealand

As a young 18 year old photographer, I have been photographing mainly as a hobby for the past 3.5 years and am trying to find a way to get my foot in the door for nature/wildlife photography.
Throughout my whole childhood, I have always been more interested in animals and nature than anything else.During my school years, I always chose subjects that would help me reach my goal of working with and photographing animals in their natural habitat and I am now half way through my Bachelors of Applied Science: Animal Welfare and Management.
I see my future as a professional wildlife photographer for National Geographic and being a still photographer for BBC’s documentaries such as ‘Frozen Planet’ and ‘Earth’. With my photography, I intend on educating and showing people the beauty and importance of wildlife and conservation. In order to accomplish this goal, I must first travel to untouched areas of the world to capture the raw beauty of the landscape and the wildlife that inhabits it. I believe that this scholarship will help me get my message across to the world through photography and hopefully impact people’s thoughts and decisions on conservation of land and wildlife.
