    The construction is abandoned to its own materiality, with only traces of the former production equipment, which has been removed. The structure has a memory of the past but, simultaneously, it is lacking a specific identity, becoming, as long as it is not controlled by the rules of utilitarianism, an area of an expectant freedom. by: nelsonmiranda Views[253] The building, designed for strictly productive purposes, had become an empty place, assuming the absence of use as meaning. The space and light had become the new characters in this scenery. by: nelsonmiranda Views[248] The factory is now progressively invaded by vegetation that tries to regain its place in the city. The flora occupies some of the spaces and colonizes the landscape, giving this scenery of ruin a dramatic effect. by: nelsonmiranda Views[320] These urban voids, apparently forgotten, are increasingly quested as alternative spaces to the active zones of the metropolis. These areas are often explored by curious people who experience the awkwardness of these places, venturing not only in the inhabited buildings but also in the sense of freedom granted by its abandonment. by: nelsonmiranda Views[694] Industrial Symphony shows a deserted landscape of a factory building in the city of Guimarães in Portugal. The industrial development during the 20th century was responsible for the great urban transformation of this territory.
