Once the snow starts thawing by summer, the tribe begins their journey towards the high altitude meadows along with the cattle where they set up camps until the onset of winter.

The nomadic shepherd herding tribes are one of the very few people who make these valleys their temporary residence. Every year they take the sheep high above the tree line to graze in the lush meadows. Seen here is a young girl leading the cattle across the snow laden mountain pass into the meadows across the mountains.

They lead a tough life high up in the mountains. Seen here is the inside of a makeshift camp. The woman is wearing a huge robe which is worn to keep the body warm. The wooden basket in her hands is called Kangar, which contains an earthen pot with burning coal inside. This basket is carried and held under the robe which keeps them warm .
