Nina goes travelling...

Bangkok and beyond...

UNITED KINGDOM | Friday, 27 February 2009 | Views [404] | Comments [6]

Ok, so I arrived in Bangkok on Tuesday night having had more than my fair share of arabic fanta on the plane (I knew there was a good reason to slecting an arab airline!). The hotel where Ive been staying is really nice and I managed to get an upgrade which was great. I'm staying near Kao San road, the famous backpackers street selling anything and everything. Today I visited the temple and emerald buddha statue and bumped into some americans teaching english in korea at the moment. Then took a river boat down to the south of the river and took the skytrain to a new modern shoppig centre that's just been built. Had dinner this evening with some family friends who have expatriated here. Tomorrow is a busy day and the coach is leaving for the floating market at 7am, following by an overnight train to chaing mai tomorrow evening arriving on saturday morning. From there I will spend 2 nights in the jungle with native tribes, bamboo rafting, elephant trekking. From there I'll be taking a boat to arrive in Laos early next week... that's as far as I've planned anyhow! I'd better get going now. Got a guitar strumming Simon and Garfunkel's, The Boxer outside. Very touristic here as you can gather!

Big ben, wow that sounds cool! And way more exciting than what I am doing at the moment which consists of internal stakeholder management, multi-tasking, responding to client demands and a little time for myself to sleep and eat!

Trekking will be so so cool :) Have fun sitting on the elephants, dont squash them! haha..

Take care and sleep tight. hope tummy is feeling better? xxxxxxxxxxxxx

ps - let me know if you buy a sim card

Hi Nina,
It was good to speak to you on the phone today and also to read your first travel log from Bangkok,
listening to Simon & Garfunkell's Boxer outside your Hotel!. Good to read your travel timetable leading upto Laos, a country which was war torn in the 60's along with Vietnam! I remember hearing about the guerilla warfare going on in the Mekong Delta! You will be visiting it as a tourist now and so it is a sign of progress!Take care and keep us updated. Love.
