I can't actually believe that this is coming to an end, we've been out here for more than 2 weeks, but i don't want to come home! I was so nervous to come to, cos i thought i'd just be bored all the time, now i don't wanna leave! Anyway, today we had a very lazy morning, not really doing much at all until about 10 30 when we went to get ready, we had an early lunch at about 11 30, and then at 12 set off to Whistler, to go kayaking! We stopped off at the local grocery store to get some vitamin water, then went to w.e.t (whistler eco tours). When we got there we filled out forms, then waited outside, with an angry wasp, until the driver came to collect us, to take us to the lake. When we got to the lake we were escorted down some steps to meet our guide, Andrew! He was really cool! He talked us through everything we needed to know, before we got in our kayaks, then we set off! I adjusted the foot pedals then got pushed in by someone who also works there. At the start we had to paddle across quite a big lake, and the wind was blowing against us, which made it even harder! When we got to the end of the lake, finally, after doing a 360 degree turn round a yellow buoy, we started to head towards the river, going through an opening in the reeds! We paddled for a while, going through some people in rubber dingys, dressed as pirates, and accidentally going into a few bushes at the sides along the way, we got a point where we had to get out and pull the boat a few metres, then get back in again. We stopped there for a while, to let the guys in the rubber dingys get ahead a little bit, before getting back in, and going through the ditch! Or as Andrew's bosses like to call it 'the canal dude!' It was very narrow, and we kept going into the bushes a bit but after a while we were out of it. Later on in the river we passed the pirates again, most of them by this time had a puncture from all the twigs in the beaver dams! Finally after the 14km journey was over, we got to the final lake, we had to do a U turn around some bushes, doing this, there was a wedding taking place in a building just on the shore, and in the bushes there was a huge bear, no doubt trying to get some of the food that smelt lovely! There was a guy in a cringey yellow shirt throwing oranges at it, then they pegged it leaving us to deal with it. Fortunately, it stayed in the bush. Further on around the U turn we could see the finish line, there was loads of people there all cheering for us! We waited for the rest of my family to come, and some randomers, then we had a race to the beach, my dad won, and i came third! After that, we got in the bus back to Whistler town. When we got out, Andrew shook all of our hands, and we said our goodbyes. We then walked back to the car for a quick change of clothing, as i looked like i had wet myself, before heading to Lift Coffee to have an iced chocolate, then going to Bike and Bean to look at our photos from yesterday, before going to Garibaldi restaurant, having the best seat ever, looking over all the biggest jumps in the bike park. When we were waiting for our starters, everyone jumped up, there was a baby bear on the bike track! It stayed on one of the jumps for a while, before running off, we all stayed to see if a mum was following, but unfortunately not! We had a nice meal, and then at the end some really good guys were doing a photo shoot and they untied some of the jumps that were closed off and are only open for 'Crankworx', we stayed at the table for a while, and watched them doing some awesome jumps, before leaving, then watching again for one more at the bottom taking some photos! On the way back to our house, we stopped off at Brandywine falls, to go on the quick walk through the forest and over the train track to the waterfall! It is absolutely huge, and beautiful! When we got back to the car we were all worried that the guy at the carpark had locked the gates, and our car was the only one in the car park, but when we got a little closer we realised he hadn't! It's now 9pm and we're just about to go for a last soak in the hot tub! Just a quick last work to say thank you all you guys for following this, hope you enjoyed reading it as i did writing them! I can't wait to look back at it in a few months and remind myself what an amazing holiday i had! x
