    Buddhism is not only about your journey through current, active life, but it also creates a sense of calm and reassurance about your after life (Amitabha Buddha). Providing confidence, tranquility and foresight (Li-Bu-Wei Buddha), wealth and fulfillment (Tuo-Pao Buddha), grounding, inner beauty and sincerity (Miao-Se-Shen Buddha) and finally calmness and purity of the mind to keep clarity of situations (Gan-Lu-Wang Buddha). Could each person retain the lessons of Buddha on their journey? by: nards Views[907] The five Buddha's of Confidence, Longevity, Wisdom, Inner Beauty and Peace, grace the shrine(L to R). Showing that everyone can achieve Buddhahood, 10,000 smaller Buddha's bear witness to this temple. The steps at the front of the Main Shrine symbolise your journey of enlightenment. You cannot be given it, you have to earn it. This could possibly take several lifetimes, but each step should be steady and be taken by yourself. The harmonious chanting ceremony lasts for 30 minutes. by: nards Views[588] The drum begins to sound, representing the elements of wind, rain & thunder. Beating in vary in speeds to illustrate each of the elements. The gong is used first to awaken everyone gently and the drum is used evoke the energies for the days activities. This welcoming of the day sounds for 15 minutes, every day. After the reverends have gathered at the hall entry, with the attendees inside, it is time to enter the Main Shrine. by: nards Views[130] As dawn breaks, the first sound of the day is a woodblock being knocked at the front of the ascending stairs to the Main Shrine. Then, the sound of the Morning Gong echos through the temple. This gong is sounded 108 times, in lots of 18 and at various speeds. As 108 is considered to be an auspicious number. It is also said that the sentient beings have worries, 108 of them. The gong is used to evoke these in everyone and remove the 108 karmas. Then the morning drum begins to beat... by: nards Views[155] The Nan Tien Temple, in Berkeley, New South Wales, Australia. The largest Buddhist temple in the Southern Hemisphere and was founded in 1965.
