More fun with the Sphinx!

After a very painful and difficult time in my life, I decided it was time to stop feeling sorry for myself.  One of the best quotes I read during this dark time in my life was from www.livehappy.com: Don't attend pity parties...There aren't any good presents there.  This was an impetus for me to make a change in my perceptions and expectations of my life.  After spending New Year's 2012 with my wonderful friend Malora in Idaho, I committed to the change and called it my "Year of YES!"  I was determined to be open and positive to all new opportunities and adventures that came my way.

I have always had a "Bucket List" since my twenties. I called it "The things I want to do before I am 40" list; however, I barely accomplished anything on the list by 40!  So at 44, I started tweaking and adding to my new and improved Bucket List.  There is this misperception that Bucket Lists are only for retirees or people at the end of their life.  Why wait???  In 2012, I began my journey to accomplish the items on my bucket list, as well as anything else that came my way!  And I experienced much of it solo ... a big excuse was always that no one would do these things with me.  No longer will that excuse play a part in my life!

2012 proved to be a pretty successful Year of YES so I decided to extend it to 2013!  Although I decided to ramp it a bit and call it my "Year of OH HELL YES!"

And to kick off 2013 is the #1 Item on my bucket list: CLIMB MT. KILIMANJARO!!!!!  (Thanks to Cort Frohlich who put this crazy idea in my head over 20 years ago!)

So this is the kick off to my travel blog .... I hope there will be many more adventures and travels in my future.  Maybe I can convince some of you to come along with me. I guarantee it will be a crazy, wonderful ride! :-)

UPDATE: So as you can see, I made it to the top of Kilimanjaro and had an amazing, life altering experience in Tanzania. My time at the Amani Children's Home made me rethink what I was doing with my life. When I returned to my life back in Florida, I was let go from my job within a week ... "Welcome Back, now don't let the door hit ya"...  I do believe that God works in mysterious ways and I was meant for much greater things in life.  So within 4 months, I was on a plane to Egypt to embark on my first (but certainly not my last) adventure of living and teaching overseas ... Check off another bucket list item!!

And what did I call 2014???  My year of "Why the Hell Not?!?"  I have no idea where I will end up and I couldn't be more excited about it! :-)
