Spent two days in Dhaka. The usual big city - traffic, lots of ppl, poluttion; yet, better than Calcutta. Made a few good friends. Looking for a internet café, I met Mr. Syed Shah MD Munir, a real state Chief engineer, and later Coo. ATM Mesbahuddin Serniabat, the company’s vide-president. We had a tea while chatting, lunch; then, I was given a workstation to use its computer. Mr. Syed took me to the roof, where I could take a few good shots of Dhaka, and learn a little more about it. Spent the evening riding around the city, and early in the morning I was on my way to Paharpur – 280km. There I visited an amazing 7th century archeological find, a Buddhist Monastery covering a beautiful 27 acres of grassland. During my stay at the site, the entire day, I made a great friend – Dr. Syed Muhammad Baqui Billah, and Assistant Professor of Epidemiology and a Surveillance Medical Officer – W.H.O. He took care of finding me a place to stay on the next city – Joypurhat. Next morning I was on my way to Burimay city, north border w/ India. On my way I took a wrong turn that put me on east direction, not so bad, I thought. Stopped and set camp. Meters away from my tent, a huge snake skin; it must have changed it’s skin and gone look for food… L
Woke up, rode 30km to find myself at the same spot as yesterday’s ride. Again I was by Hilli border, the west border w/ Indian that I was avoiding. Change of plans; crossed the border and said goodbye to Bangladesh. My first Islamic country was behind me. A nation with 50% of illiterate ppl, thought me a lot about courtesy and caring. I’ll miss not only the nature beauty, but the love the ppl of Bangladesh offered me.
In India, going to Shiliguri city, border with Nepal.
See you, thanks for the support
