It was Monday so the beach was not very busy. The laid back and relaxing atmosphere was all over the air. Very French. Nice is so famous for its tricky pebble beaches, but it seemed not to be a problem with this girl. When I first saw her, I talked to myself “Nice, la Belle”.

I flew to Nice, France one sunny day in late September. The town I live in Germany is surrounded by hills and forest so I haven’t seen the ocean for nearly a year. Needless to say my feeling when I can soak myself in that color of the sea, and smell the salty breeze fondling my hair. “Can you hear it, mom, that sound of the wave!”- I called my mom. Then in a moment, the bright sunshine got reflected in the crystal clear water, making everything to sparkle. Just a few minutes after, the cloud came and covered the sun, left behind the bewitched me.

This old man stood in front of me when we all waited for the walking light. Strangely enough, even when the light turned green, and then red again, he still stood there. And strangely enough, my eyes are really sensitive to anything in yellow. He reminded me of Amelie Poulain's father. So I came and talked to him. “Sorry Mademoiselle, I am just sleepy. It is Monday, you know”- he laughed.
