    - Can you open it a little bit? My roommate kindly asked me. It was early in my last morning in Nice, and I was just lying in my bunk bed, watching the cloud slowly floating through the dusty attic window. - Sure. Where is your next stop? - Paris. You? - I am coming home. Coincidentally, fate brought four of us in this little dorm room of a tiny hostel, and coincidentally, our room was in the attic with the big window which we could open for the fresh air to get in, or to hear the far-away horn of the trains from the station. We were all travelers, some have traveled for a year, or like me, only a month. We spoke different languages, had different stories, but we all shared the love for travel. From strangers, we now become friends. by: mtrang Views[185] I met this man walking along the beach in a ragged pair of pants, carefully picking the pebbles and putting them into his plastic bag. He looked like the homeless people I saw sleeping near the train station, but his face was really calm and quiet. He said “Bonjour” and something else to me in French, but unfortunately, my French was just as bad as his English. He gave me a round pebble, and continued walking. “All the lonely people Where do they all come from?” I just can’t help myself but whispering this song. by: mtrang Views[317] This old man stood in front of me when we all waited for the walking light. Strangely enough, even when the light turned green, and then red again, he still stood there. And strangely enough, my eyes are really sensitive to anything in yellow. He reminded me of Amelie Poulain's father. So I came and talked to him. “Sorry Mademoiselle, I am just sleepy. It is Monday, you know”- he laughed. by: mtrang Views[189] It was Monday so the beach was not very busy. The laid back and relaxing atmosphere was all over the air. Very French. Nice is so famous for its tricky pebble beaches, but it seemed not to be a problem with this girl. When I first saw her, I talked to myself “Nice, la Belle”. by: mtrang Views[164] I flew to Nice, France one sunny day in late September. The town I live in Germany is surrounded by hills and forest so I haven’t seen the ocean for nearly a year. Needless to say my feeling when I can soak myself in that color of the sea, and smell the salty breeze fondling my hair. “Can you hear it, mom, that sound of the wave!”- I called my mom. Then in a moment, the bright sunshine got reflected in the crystal clear water, making everything to sparkle. Just a few minutes after, the cloud came and covered the sun, left behind the bewitched me. by: mtrang Views[178]
