Remains of a War: Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Bosnia & Herzegovina | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos

Photography and travel without a doubt are my greatest passions. Since I was a kid the idea of wandering the globe with a camera in hand documenting the people, places, and things I meet has excited and fueled my life. Photographing for National Geographic has always been the ultimate goal for me; but a seemingly unattainable goal. I’ve been struggling for years to get a leg up and see if it’s possible to turn my passion and biggest dreams into my career.

I love photography because of its accessibility, honestly and ability to promote real social change. I don’t believe any other visual medium has the potential to reach as many people and therefore open as many minds as photography can. The more people can see and relate to others the closer we all come to understanding one another and move towards a more peaceful and socially just world.

Going to Oman and learning from Jason Edwards would be an invaluable experience and opportunity of a lifetime. It would help me polish my photographic and story telling skills and build my confidence as a photographer; and not to mention be a total blast. I’m a hard worker and believe this is exactly what I need to kick start my career.
