A young monk looks out of the window of Xieng Thong Temple in Laos' capital Luang Prabang. The educational opportunities for monks in Laos are limited. If he is lucky he might get the chance to study in Northern Thailand like some of his fellow monks.

A long way from home two young Laotian monks are engrossed in their studies in one of the numerous monasteries in Chiang Mai in Thailand. They are two of the lucky ones who were allowed to go to Northern Thailand to get a better education. Most of the monks come from poor families who cannot support their child on their own and therefore send it to a monastery.
