so we set off. a car with four passengers, their not so little luggage and mangoes, various plants, some lychees and papaya. Just driving through I got a glimpse of the beauty of the Atherton Tablelands! This lush green, mountainous region is just pure paradise. Again! :) Yes, the list of places I cannot the believe the beauty of will grow. We had a great but also exhausting time getting down south. There was a night spent at a road side stopping bay. Camping next to the Highway with trucks going past all night...there were discussions and tears...(which i just calmly observed...) an interesting insight of the thoughts and feeling of the people i travel with. The best was picking up some huge lychee, foraging what i still think were the tastiest mangoes so far! There was a morning spent in Sarina, where we could finally swim (no stingers. hooray!) where I also picked some Coconut of which I had the water for brekkie and some of the jelly too. The tastiest Coconut water! (it tastes better because I picked them of course!). We had some great picnics, e.g. sitting in Rockhampton's botanical gardens getting excitid about more jackfruit (oh yeh, that was also in the car) and more mangoes and lush greens. Bunch of crazy hippie vegans we are. Yes, it definitely was a journey. And one I wouldn't have wanted to miss. I definitely didn't think my first wwooffing would be anything like this. and it couldn't have been better! Thanks everyone involved! I am planning the next trip up! whoop! X
