My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I was born last to a middle class family of eight in middle America. In my teens I traveled the USA. At 17, something happened when my brother and I spent a summer backpacking Europe. I returned to the US a different person. There was a fire lit under my feet that still burns to this day. I've lived and backpacked for 10 years in Australasia, Europe and Central America obtaining knowledge and an understanding of different cultures, religions, and social demographics. I yearn for new adventures. I embrace change and unconventional norms. I've saught to share my travels with others and feel as though no other medium can evoke feelings and emotions like photography. As a charasmatic and inquisitive traveler, I strive to bridge the gap between locals and visitors. The challenge of relaying and conveying an unbiased yet accurate depiction of our world today keeps me exploring new perspectives.

I find myself torn between my passion and a paycheck. I cannot find a job or career that allows me to use my talents or creative expression. Winning this contest would assure my potential is no longer be oppressed and can start giving back to a world that has given me so much.
