Rice in the Ifugao is planted and harvested by hand. Men carry the ~60kilo load over their shoulder and hike barefoot back to their homes.

Traditional Ifugao huts are constructed without nails and are sturdy enough to withstand the impact of an earthquake. Each family in the region will have designated terrace paddies that have been handed down from generation to generation.

The elderly men who are no longer physically able to work in the paddies stay home watching children, roasting papuy(rice wine), and preparing meats for the feast.
