My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Australia | Monday, November 7, 2011 | 5 photos

10 years ago I was fortunate enough to move to from a little land lock country called Slovakia to Australia. It was a sudden move and at an age of 13 I had no expectations. I didn’t know then what my aspirations would be and I could say with stubborn certainty that without this journey I would have never become the person that I am today. I perceive photography very much the same way. Through photography I aim to understand the world around me. Photography encourages me to take risk, be inquisitive and explore aspects of reality which otherwise would remain unexplored but above all photography gives me infinite possibilities to express my self in a language that anyone can understand. Whenever I hear of National Geographic’s Scholarship my heart skips a beat. Not only because of the amazing places the photographers have explored but because of the unique way they perceive and communicate to the world. This scholarship opportunity means there is a small chance I could be a part of this. To me National Geographic’s Scholarship means infinity. Just like Australia did when I was 13.
