An early morning guest watching an Australian sea Lion at play at Sydney Aquarium, Australia

During my employment at Sydney Wildlife World I was privileged enough to gain access and photograph Sydney's Aquariums life at the “backstage”, in particular the mammal department. Working with the keepers has provided me with insight into the way wildlife parks operate and their importance in conservation efforts.

“Australian sea lions suffer from increasing human impact on the environment.”
Keepers attempt to remove a lodged debris which was mistaken for a food item by a sea lion. The object was a piece of rubbish no larger then a 50 cent coin and was removed within 24 hours yet has caused significant swelling, discomfort and a loss of appetite. Unfortunately with incidents such as these seals in the wild often don’t receive the necessary treatment which they need to survive.
