macbackpacks contin..

UNITED KINGDOM | Monday, 22 September 2008 | Views [572]

So Next day on Mac backpackers. Stopped at the Rogie falls which wasn’t to long from Inverness. The falls were beautifull, very green and fish jumping out of the water. Few of the boys had a competition who could skid the longest across the bridge New Zealand came last with a disappointing slip on his butt, then the germans came 3rd then the Scottish 2nd, and Aussie’s 1st. Only because Scottish were cheating…
After there we were on to more beautifull gorges with more waterfalls. All these places are beautifull for pictures.
Next stop was at our highest point Ulla pool. it’s a fishing port so you no what lunch was fish and chips… they have the best fish and chips in the UK. Weather wise I think this was our worst day with rain, all afternoon. We had to eat our lunch in the rain. Some had jackets over there heads others like me just sat there and eat in the rain….
Kept trecking around the highlands, all you could see were mountains and mountains with no trees it was beautifull. We headed for the Eilan Donnan castle, stopped on the way cause the roads were windy and Dave had to concerntrate hard so we all got a hot chocolate or tea, or coffee.
Its was still raining when we got to the castle so jess and I took a quick photo out in the rain each then jumped back on the bus. The castle in open for tourists during the summer but in the winter the they still live in it. (why in the winter, I donno, clearly you would find a warmer place).
From the castle to the Isle of Sky. Over the big bridge that was really high, and into the isle that’s known for mystical legends, fairies and big giants. We had dinner at the pub and few drinks, dan decided to stay a little longer and have more drinks with dave or Dale as dan was calling him all night. As it was daves last night with us.
The morning began with hairdryers and plastic bags rustling around from the Asian that Amy and I had to share a room with while dan an jess got a private room (lucky buggers, just cause they are a couple, amy and I said we were but didn’t get any benefits).
We were off first stop was to wake us all up and stick our heads in frezzing running water for eternal youth. With all these people watching us I think they were laughing a little… then we were off the the capital of Skye to get some food/lunch for the day as we headed up for a hike on the cliff faces of sky. (think we spoke to u mum and dad when we were driving up there). We stopped on our way up there to get some photos of the mountains and a creek. There was a few of us standing there saying I bet I could jump the creek, the NZ said he would do it with 2 feet together and he made it easy, so then we told jess to do it, she was ready and thought it looked easy, but then as she took off she didn’t make it w=has slipped into the water and had wet legs and feet for the rest of the day… hahaha…. Oh poor jess.
We made a few stops along the way. Stopped at the Kilt rock, ;looks like a kilt on the side of a cliff face, and more water falls. Then off to our big hike at the Quiraing, the huge cliff face which over looks the whole island. The hike was about 45 min which we had to climb rock faces and everythink to get to the point where we sat and had lunch.
On the way back we stopped at faerie glen. Which is a little peoples place. Everything is little little mountains trees loch. It was so cute.the sun came out and we sat there and enjoyed it for a bit. Got back and cleaned up went for dinner at the other pub called saucy marys. There was a 3 man band on which was pretty good. Tried some new drinks called PIMMS and lemonade, bit of morgans which is now one of my fav drinks.

Next day we caught the ferry from armadale to mainland Scotland. Once on land again we were off. We stopped at the Harry Potter bridge and got some photos with it. We also stopped there cause the glenn finnan monument was there to take photos of but I think harry potter got more photos…
We then stopped at Fort William for lunch and dan went off with the boys for some male time.
Off again, we stopped at Glen Coe for another walk down to the river which was clear and beautifull. Dan and few the boys decided to walk across it and we fall in…. very funny, very wet and cold. Hahaha so jess isn’t the only one to fall in water.
We spent the night in Oban for our last night. Most went out for dinner but I still wasn’t well, so caught up with them at the most important place, the pub… we had few drinks then decided to got out to night clue but everything was closed… so we had about 20 of us walking the strees at 130am in the morning trying to find a place we could go. Ended up just going back to hostle and haven more drinks and talking.
