This is not the best advice when in Antarctica, if you are paving the path you will have tired legs by the end of the day! It is much easier following a broken in trail.
One of the most amazing things about Antarctica was some places we stopped there easily may have never been a person to step in the exact place you were standing / walking, and the snow was so perfect and untouched in many spots it was unbelievable to experience.
