Eric and I just arrived in Lima, safe and sound. Our hostel for the night is really nice. They picked us up from the airport. It is clean and has free internet.
We stayed up all night, got a ride halfway to the airport due to a low gas tank and a mysterious closing of all the 24 hr gas stations, took the light rail the rest of the way, and sat like zombies waiting for our 6:35 AM flight. I think we both slept the whole way. We opted to sleep more during our 8 hr Miami layover, so we didn't make it to the beach as planned. Now it's after 1AM, and we're getting our emails and posts in before we crash. Hopefully we're able to wake up for the free breakfast.
Thanks for everyone's well wishes! I was happy to see or chat with many of you these last few weeks. Two months in South America!! I still can't believe it!
