'A tree, fleetingly glimpsed in a gust of wind, that disappeared almost as quickly.' Barely seen, this tree disappeared completely from sight a few minutes later, as the fog grew even thicker.

'Wire followed to its origin, before tracking back to the safety of a path.' While this was probably once a fence, only a single pole remains now, along with a length of wire. The wire twists and trails along the ground, waiting to snare the unwary foot.

'Branches fading from sight, where I knew there were more, unseen.' Beyond this tree lies the valley (with a glimpse of the Falls Creek dam), and a great deal more trees. I did wander a little farther beyond the tree...but not too far. The fog was disorienting, and it was easy to lose your way.
