    'And a stand of trees, bare from fire so severe in intensity; the heat and light of the blaze now unimaginable in this near-insubstantial world.' Standing here, it was hard to envisage the fires that ignited the the forest on Black Saturday. Yet it was easy to see the resultant devastation. by: mdgraf Views[139] 'Branches fading from sight, where I knew there were more, unseen.' Beyond this tree lies the valley (with a glimpse of the Falls Creek dam), and a great deal more trees. I did wander a little farther beyond the tree...but not too far. The fog was disorienting, and it was easy to lose your way. by: mdgraf Views[125] 'A tree, fleetingly glimpsed in a gust of wind, that disappeared almost as quickly.' Barely seen, this tree disappeared completely from sight a few minutes later, as the fog grew even thicker. by: mdgraf Views[179] 'Wire followed to its origin, before tracking back to the safety of a path.' While this was probably once a fence, only a single pole remains now, along with a length of wire. The wire twists and trails along the ground, waiting to snare the unwary foot. by: mdgraf Views[165] 'A road that may lead anywhere, or cease, dropping me into an endless white expanse.' This is the road from Falls Creek that runs along the dam wall. To the left (lost to sight because of the fog) the dam full of water.
