The boys left yesterday

alrighty then! The guys are off! They left yesterday all happy and bright-eyed. But they had a long wait in sydney and couldn't drop their luggage off early, so they stayed in the airport. I heard from STeve today, from Japan. cone eechee wah! he was worried about something on his foot and thought maybe we SHOULD get the travel insurance. so i got something from my journal hosts (world nomads) they were the only ones that would let you get insurance after you'd already started your trip. I cleaned the house for the first time in weeks, it was dusty! I'm getting ready to go to Woodford for the Dreaming festival. should be excellent. when i finally talked to him hours later with the insurance bizo taken care of, he sounded so so tired. its been a long day of airports and traveling. so glad that megan and i will spend the night in a hotel in Korea. (!) I just thought i should add that i haven't yet begun my legs of the trip. Here is how the grand itinerary goes June 4 and on Marlso and Steve leave for London. Meet their campervan. get over jet lag. travel to Germany for the first Australian game of the World Cup, in Kaiserslauttern or something. Go Socceroooooos!!! they spend 3 weeks following the socceroos around germany. they have tickets for all of the first round games. If australia makes it to the 2nd round, they have a ticket for one game. They also have a ticket to some random game in Berlin. June 28th Megan and I leave towards England via Korea. We get to spend the night in a Korean hotel. 18 hours in Korea. we're thinking this will be fun. June 29th we arrive in London. if steve and marls aren't completely wrapped up in soccerfan bliss, they will meet us at the airport. if not, we'll make our way to some friend's place somewhere south of london. til July 5 playing in England with friends and family. aussie/english friends Tahli, Mark Tara Benjamin and Jack and ella (thats one family), joe's parents/family, Steve's dad's uncle Abey and wife Blanche, california Mark and my english/calif Jen! and who knows who else? July 5 campervan family trip to France, Normandy, pays calvados to be exact, even though i don't exactly know where it is. There we will finally see the land of Ling Shien, my dear california friend. Our kids are the same age and have known each other from birth! there we will eat the camman bear. and drink wine. and swim in a swimming hole and be the only ones that don't speak french and all of Rayna and Corwins aunts uncles cousins +++ will be there, too. July 8 maybe stay in lingshein ville or maybe go to Paris for a couple of days on our way back to England. July 12 Marley departs back to Australia July 14 Marls arrives in oz Megan goes off with Tahli and family and friends Steve and Maura off to Ireland (oh, yeah, I almost forgot why i was making this trip!) July 20 Megan departs to Australia July 22 megan arrives oz August 9 steve and maura depart to Australi August 11 they arrive in Australia

Mau Mau, That is soooo fun. I am jealousy.
And now for MY itenerary:
June 6: Go to work. Keep going until I'm delivered from these rascally children on June 16. Clean house until July 11. Fly to Louisiana and stay there until August 15. Janetta and I get to stay two nights in a "Fine New Orleans Hotel" for FREE because we are volunteering to pick up trash on July 29. Mom and I will do various jobs to help the Gulf Coast Recovery Effort. We hope to rebuild the infrastructure, bring back and provide housing for all the residents who were displaced by the Flood (500, 000), and deal with all the garbage (4 times the amount of the 9-11 mess). Oh yeah, we'll be there during for the 2006 Hurricane Season!!! There are hardly any trees left so it should be rilly rilly warm!

Dear, dear Maura:

A woman of the 21st century you are! What an adventure! (This is my first blog.) I didn't have a clue you were off to see the World, but not our part of it this time, I gather. Let it be soon, then. In July-August we will have Maggi, Chris, Fiona, and maybe Chuck the Graduate Masseur of Austin.

All part of our Katrina Recovery Program, which up to now is only creeping along.

Love-love-love to you and Megan from your Aunt Dottie

Ireland is the place I most want to experience in all the world! I've been doing Irish set dancing for several years now, with mostly Irish people here in New Orleans. It seems that most Irish not only dance, but play one or two instruments, sing Irish ballads, tell Irish stories, and in general, ACT Irish, which seems to mean sweet, kind, and caring. Is it a myth that we Irish tend to exaggerate things, or is it just something that my mother excelled at?

My mother's mother was Irish, a Cassidy. I have a theory that one's mother passes on the biggest cultural package.

Have you read "Angela's Ashes" by Frank McCourt, or "A Monk Swimming" by his brother Malachy? I did. These books are more than entertaining. I think it's was a good way for me to get in touch with my Irish heritage.

So... I'm sure you'll all have a good time! I wonder if the four of you will have an opportunity to try out Irish sets... I hope so!

Whatever, I'm looking forward to following this blog. Thanks for writing it!

Hello, Ladies and Gentlemen,
I need your help. I'm an English translator and today I've a met a word combination "camman bear" applied to a bear in a stupid modern tale. Google's index revealed that this is the only page this combination is being used on. In an hour I finally understood that it's pronounced like a kind of French cheese, but, please, could you explain me: is it a joke, an idiom or (sorry) two unique cases of misspelling? Thanks in advance.
