It was early dawn and as the sun rose the magical powers of the Patupaiarehe wore off. Set in stone just shy of the pacific ocean and his goal.

Knowing his love she will never embrace, the nameless hill decides to end it all. Calling on the Patupaiarehe, a magical people to help haul him to the ocean gouging out a valley on the way to the ocean.

It was here that his final resting place will be, named by the people as Mauao or Mount Maunganui, caught by the morning sun.
