My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Bangladesh | Friday, January 11, 2013 | 5 photos
I began my career assisting photographers and interning at NOOR Images before heading off to pursue my own personal photo stories. I am driven to document forgotten places and question the surrounding circumstances, reasons and repercussions of the communities that I discover. Through my work I hope to provide a voice for the? people I have documented and to expose the situations in which they find? themselves.
My passion and drive comes from my desire to explore and discover what’s around the corner. I am inspired by imagery as well as cinema, music and literature.
I believe that purely having a camera allows you access to places and ask questions that would in another context seem intrusive. You can spend all day in the company of a family documenting their daily life as long as you are honest about your intentions of being there.
I always seek to push myself that step further to get the decisive shot, resulting in many wet boots when documenting the flooding during the monsoon in Bangladesh!
I would like to continue reporting on stories that I feel are important. I believe in the power of photography and if it can make one person question the world, then it’s all worth it.
