Simple and Healthy Kind of Life

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I am currently taking and almost finishing my bachelors degree in Journalism and I have become very passionate about people cultural values, ways of self-expression, the different kinds of lifestyles and the power that the media has over society. While growing up I was fortunate enough to take road trips, to attend summer camps and to get involved in different outdoor activities in my country. Then, in 2008 I had the opportunity to live and travel in a RV Trailer from east to west coast across the U.S.A. It's by far one of the best experiences that changed my life completely. Since then, I became more aware to explore and discover my surroundings. I got my first camera at the age of 9 and started liking the fact of capturing a moment, also my dad had a film camera and I was the only one allowed to use for his personal purposes which were (recording his triathlons, marathons competitions, etc) but I weren't able to do this task fully cuz I was caught up in documenting my surroundings, for instance: the athletes families, the location we where at, whatever was amusing at the moment. Then later on, I've had several digital cameras but only when I turned 23 I decided I wanted a semi-profesional digital camera and that's the one i've been currently using, I mostly try to experiment with it so I opened a flickr account for it to be my portafolium and perhaps this could be more than a hobbie and become a career.
I'd be excited/thrilled if I get to win and to do something I feel so much passion about (like having that real connection with people, with nature and being able to capture it in images). To be able to learn by getting out of my comfort zone, to gain knowledge and wisdom from people who've done it so many times before like Mr. Edwards and ultimately to have a glimpse of what it's like to be part of the well-known and, according to me, the best organization in the world, National Geographic.
