My number one passion in life is shooting landscapes (both urban and natural) and nature photography.

I am comfortable with this type of photography, but there is one type of photography which I desperately need a helping hand with, and that is people. I am keen to learn how to shoot a stirring environmental portrait as I believe the most powerful photographic images inevitably include a human element.

World history is another of my passions so an opportunity to travel to a place such as Oman would be a dream come true. To learn about a culture that can trace its history back thousands of years, along with the chance to visit places where historical events actually took place, would be incredible.

I appreciate how physically demanding and mentally draining days of shooting can be and working on this assignment will be an awesome challenge, but I am ready for the hard work.

At the conclusion of this assignment I would like my images to show how the Omani people have adapted, through necessity, to live a more sustainable lifestyle. In our modern, consumer driven, throw-away society there could well be important lessons for us to be learnt from this way of life.
