My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

For me learning more about the world I am living in is essential for both my work as an artist and my life, the two of them being closely connected anyway. Correspondingly travelling has always been essential to me. For me travelling means to get in touch with both the nature of a foreign place (which by the way could also be a never-looked-at corner of my backyard!) and even more importantly the people living there, their culture and daily habits. When going out to take pictures I take my time, allowing myself to immerse in what I see and relate to whom I meet. Only by trying to get in touch profoundly with my surroundings I feel I can take a picture that has the power to tell a true story of a moment. Likewise a perfect shot to me is one that has the power to extract the feeling of an encounter, an experience and make it palpable to a public. This is the experience I am searching for and I believe this scholarship would be an incredible opportunity for that. I am sure that working alongside a professional yet passionate photographer will enable me to learn a lot about honest and still professional approaches to photography. This is why I would love to take on this experience!
