My name is Maja, I am a 24 years old Media Arts student. For me learning more about the world I am living in is essential for both my work as an artist and my life, the two of them being closely connected anyway.Correspondingly travelling has always been essential to me. For me travelling means to get in touch with both the nature of a foreign place (which by the way could also be a never-looked-at corner of my backyard!) and even more importantly the people living there with their culture, traditions and daily habits. When going out to take pictures I always take my time, allowing myself to immerse in what I see and relate to whom I meet. Only by trying to get in touch profoundly with my surroundings I feel I can take a picture that has the power to tell the story of a moment. Likewise a perfect shot is to me a picture that has the power to extract the feeling of an encounter, an experience and make it palpable to a public. This is the experience I am searching for and I believe that this scholarship would be an incredible opportunity for that. This is why I would love to take on this experience!
