    THE END OF A LONG DAY The Laundromat is a mess at the end of a long day. Machines are left open; chairs are out; a pile of washing sits neatly folded, waiting to be taken home. The constant thoroughfare leaves the Laundromat tired. by: maggiebeatrice Views[1789] THE AFTERTHOUGHT A young man removes his jumper to add to his wash. by: maggiebeatrice Views[1788] REFLECTION An elderly man quietly loads his washing into a machine, unaware of his humble observer. by: maggiebeatrice Views[1891] WATCHING, WAITING The Laundromat is a quiet place where people wait patiently for their washing- oft reading or catching up on study or generally just enjoying the solitude, observing the cyclic movement of their clothes drying. Most appear completely unaware of the rattle and tumble of the old washers. The constant hum of the machines and the swishing of water and fabric is soothing, an unexpected serenity within an industrial work place. by: maggiebeatrice Views[2482] SOLITUDE A worn and expectant chair; the start of a new day. The Laundromat is a silent meeting place for people of all walks of life. A common ground, where mutual respect is established and common societal boundaries are dissolved. This chair sees all who come in and out, and by the look of it, becomes intimate with many. The chair is weary, but also refelcts a peaceful calm.
