My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Worldwide | Tuesday, November 8, 2011 | 4 photos

I am a dreamer.

I am a romantic.

I am an adventurer.

My photography tells the story of me. The images are my words without speaking. I see a world that is full of beautiful and rare people, places and things. And I dream of a world that is without famine, fights and fear. So, I find myself looking at the details and composing the scene for the next shot that tells the story of hidden or unseen beauty. Truth is, many shots are well conceived in my mind and poorly executed. Often the only record is in my memory. My ambition to be recognised as a professional photographer in the future is what drives me to always try harder to take a better shot.

I am a student.

Study and practice are both very important. This wisdom of mentors and educators encourages me to constantly challenge myself and my photography! Always to question the motivation and outcomes. Wanting a better shot means, forever, I am a student of photography.

I am ready.

The World Nomads 2011 contest presents a unique opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of what it is to be a Field Photographer. And how, through making real human contact with the people and places of the world, a story of culture and environment can be told through photography. This core value of photography is what I am ready to learn.

I am committed.

As a child I took photographs with a 110mm. As an adult I continued my hobby taking photographs with various film and digital Point and Shoot cameras. In 2011 I began an online, Photographic Institute, Professional Photographer’s Diploma with the idea of studying Fine Arts in the future. For this reason, I can say, no matter if my foot ends up in this door, I am committed to this path.
