Clouds from a mid-day storm pass over the rolling hills next to Laguna De Paca. The lake, a short drive away from Huancayo in the central Andes, has become a fixture for local day trips and fishermen. Houseboat restaurants serve trout on the shore, though since the economic recession less tourists have come visiting.
Walking there from nearby Jauja, I met some local residents with whom I sat down to enjoy the sunset. These fleeting encounters will stay with me all my life, even if I don't remember their names. Thanks to my camera, however, I will never forget their faces, or the beautiful land in which they lived. I consider that a great privilege.
