Ok, so Barcelona isn´t really a whole lot like Madrid. It is far more Metropolitan. Madrid was less busy and trendy. But its all good b/c Barcelonoa isa ton of fun. There is all sorts of neat little side streets w/ amazing architecture. It seems that for building in Barcelona, there is no point in doing it, if your not going to make the building look good. In Canada, a brick wall is just a brick wall. In Barcelona it is a perfect spot for some fun architecture. Especially if you want to imitate Gaudi.

Gaudi is absolutly amazing. The Sagrada Familila *slated for completeion in 2030* is awe inspiring. Unfortunately my camera crapped out  *batteries died* so i have like 2 pics. my camera should really have a warning light or something for when you have low batteries. Anyways, it was really cool.

La Rambla, the huge market is insane. It goes for as far as you can see and is awash w/ people. Craziness. I tries to upload photos to this site today, but I have to do them one @ a time, so I put them all on Flickr *yahoo* instead. I'll try to post a link to them. No descriptions yet, but I'll get around to that eventually.

SG and I met an Aussie, Rebecca, and went to the beach together yesterday. They have actuall sand out here, imported for the Olympics in 82, I think.

The beach was great, and a nice break froom sight seeing. We went out to a Salsa bar that evening w/ an older Argentinian lady form our room, but it turned out that Saturdays is the one day of the week that the bar doesnt play salsa. hmph. it was still fun though.

SG and I went to La Pedrera this morning. Its a Gaudi museum near our hostel. It is in a apartment complex that he designed. I definately got all sorts of cool pics from this. Especially of scale models and the roof. Its kinda hard to explain, but when you see the pics *after i sort that out* you'll understand. All the chimneys were scrulptures, in the shpe of warriors for the most part. The models were of La Pedrera as well as various other churches and things he designed. The coolest part was the inverted hanging model. You use wires to delineate the arches in a building by suspending them for the ceiling. Once done, you have an inverted model. Stick a big enough mirror underneath and you can see how its supposed to look.

Going to the Barcelona Cathedral, tyhis evening, which is also under construction. It is suppposed to be absolutly beautiful @ night, so it should be pretty spectacular.

We alos met some New Zelanders, and a couple more Aussies. They apparantly have a huge rivalry b/w the 2 countries *mainly from rugby* and the 2 groups were just going @ each other all evening whilst playing cards. It was freaking hilarious. Especially b/c SG, I and a couple of Toronto guys were playing as well and egging all of them on. Good tiomes.

But I must go do laundry, so ta-ta, toodle pip and cherrio.

Wow Les. Found your photos. Didn't know there were coulees and poplars going into senescence in Spain at this time of year. Mom likes your long hair. Hope the pack safe purse is inside the big new one? Check your lighting when shooting from a dark area into a light area - makes you silhouette. Take more shots of you and S together or singly. The AUS/NZ rivalry goes back a ways - kind of like the french and english. Fun to be in the middle, but be careful you don't confuse one for the other or you won't be friends with either. Adios
