World Nomads 2012 Travel Photography Scholarship entry - 'Danger!' in South Africa
South Africa | Sunday, January 6, 2013 | 5 photos
Having visited 84 out of 193 UN countries, I am slowly but surely photographing my way around the world – and to date, the less visited parts such as Turkmenistan and West and Central Africa. My passion lies in wildlife and portrait photography and I could think of no better way to further my passion than to learn from the master, Jason Edwards. I recently met Jason at the G Adventures ‘Future of Tourism’ event in Sydney where he told me about his latest photographic assignments in Africa and the hardships he faced in getting some of his most stunning shots. Having endured serious challenges whilst travelling through West and Central Africa in particular over the last 11 months, I too am ready for whatever hardships await. No matter what the conditions, I would be more than happy to wait for hours and even days to capture the perfect shot. Eager to learn and completely focused on capturing the right moment, I would make the most of every minute with Jason and will have a thirst for his every bit of advice. National Geographic has also always been an inspiration for me and to be one step closer to contributing to such a prestigious organisation would literally be life-changing.
