Life as a teacher in China

CHINA | Sunday, 7 March 2010 | Views [400]

Week 1 has ended and it has been a busy week for me.  I am quite lucky as I have Monday's off, so I can enjoy a long weekend every week until the end of June :-)

The student's I am teaching are all level 4 in English, except for one class, which are level 2's.

In one of my classes I seem to have all animals and I feel like I am Dr. Doolittle talking to the animals :-)  No, I am not saying they are terrible student's, it's just there are a few of them using animal names as their English names.  I have a rabbit, tiger, lion, monkey and an elephant, by memory.  In another class I have a Schumacher, or how ever you spell it and he is a real fan of the F1 driver.  So, I hope if he reads this then I hope he feels proud and not offended by this.

In my class on Friday, I even got a proposal of marriage, but I had to decline as I am quite a few years older than he is and also knew he was only joking.  He did ask me to be his mother though and that is fine with me, but I did remind him that I don't have any money!  That was a great class and I look forward in seeing them again next class.

Stay tuned for more happenings as time flips away here.....
