Entrance to Window of the World.

It’s my first day of exploring Shenzhen and according to my travel book there is not a lot to see, it’s really just a business city. Well that’s a challenge! Vivian dropped me off at the Window to the World, just a 10 minute drive.  I set out on foot to re-live visiting the famous monuments from around the world, thinking I could have saved myself a lot of time and money just coming here! Just joking.  When my legs started to get tired I took a trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower and then caught the monorail to zip around the park. The monument I enjoyed most was the Grand Canyon as you could wander thru and marvel at the feat of rebuilding the landscape.  After a couple of hours I wandered across the road to the shopping centre and grabbed a sushi lunch and bought Vivian a gift. At the checkout I bumped into a Sydney girl who was dying for a chat with another Australian then once I crossed the road to wait for Vivian to pick me up I bumped into an American also hanging out for a chat. Both of these ladies would have made great friends if I had been staying, such a pity there wasn’t more of these in Yangshuo. As it was pouring with rain I skipped the swim and just rested until after 5 when May’s head came peeking around the corner, she was wanting to show me her homework and to teach me some more chinese words. Besides Faye in Harbin she is actually the best teacher I have had as she remembers what I am learning and tests me. She loves looking through my travel book sharing her day with me. We spent a couple of comfortable hours while she chatted and finished her homework. We then moved to watch TV and eat dinner until the piano teacher came and May is banging away on the keys now. Vivian is still at the airport picking up her father.  I don’t feel as weird being here now, I am not getting so fussed over which is a relief and I have been useful as I have babysat May and giving her lots of English practice
