gee, that's a big rock

Our southwestern road trip began in the southern coastal town of Esperance...the furthest east I've been yet. But first, we had the great fortune of some touristy stops along the way. It turns out that Wave Rock is, well, wavy. But nothing spectacular. The highlight of our nine-hour drive was the Tin Horse Highway - a stretch of road dotted with colorful horses made from painted barrels. It's the best way I've ever seen to brighten a long strip of farmland roads. Apparently the farmers in the area do it every year as part of a contest. It's hilarious. Pictures in the Tin Horse gallery.
