Our New Home and Noosa

Sorry for the delay!
We have moved into our new house now and have been living here for nearly a month. Have really settled in nicely now with our 5 other ozzies house mates. We have the en-suite room as we are the only couple in the house which is a luxury for us as being used to sharing the bathroom with many other people when living the in hostel. The house is a big old queenslander house which is all wooden, we have a nice back garden and get many visits from Bush Turkeys and Possums as we live near a lot of bush, I have also encountered many spiders also, but most of them just hang in the trees.
It is great living in our own house now being able to have a washing machine which we don't have to put coins into, a freezer and an oven are a massive bonus! You really know what you miss when you have been living in a hostel for a long while.
We went to a place called Noosa 2 hours up coast from Brisbane with our friends that we met with at the hostel. We booked an apartment for all of us to stay in, the place for so nice for the money we paid, the place was really big, had a nice kitchen, living room and balcony.
On the first day we arrived it was pouring down with rain which wasn't ideally what we were hoping for but meant that it was good weather for surfing. We rented out two surf boards as out friends had been surfing before and were going to show us the basics. We had a really good time practicing, we took the boards to this beach called 'Little Cove' which was right beside our apartment. We then had to find the supermarket to get our food for the weekend and took a trek in the rain to find it. We made a vegetable lasagna that night which was very very nice. Later the boys started playing a beer bottle game which ended up leading them to taking the surfboards to the swimming pool, Anais and myself just left them to it.
On Sunday the sun came out yay! Perfect day to go to the beach, we trekked through the National Rain Forest whch was amazing with its big trees and was on the look out for koalas but sadly did not see any :(
When we got to the other side of the forest it took us to an amazing beach that was not as touristic. I tried surfing again, but the currents of the waves was all over the place and I lost my confidence not being able to balance the board. We decided to go to another beach as the sea wasn't really suitable for surfing in. So we took another trek along the outskirt of the national rain forest and went to a cliff called 'Hell's Gate's' we got a really good view of the beach and looking down we saw some Sea Turtles which was amazing, it made up for us not seeing any Koalas.
We found another beach further down which was extremely nice also, we had our lunch down there and tried surfing again too. Matt was picking up surfing alot easier than I was, I am still really wanting to do it but think next time I will try with a surfing instructor. Matt is now thinking of buying a surf board, that will be fun to carry around when we move around alot more. We stayed there until the sun set then walked back to the apartment for a shower and our dinner, we went out for a couple of drinks that night but not to many as Noosa is a fairly expensive place as a lot of the shops we saw we designer, it was very posh.
On our last day which was also another fantastic day we rented out a small boat which also meant Matt had to rent out some fishing gear aswell ;) I think that was his plan all along with renting a boat. We went around Noosa River and saw some amazing places and very amazing (very expensive) houses that had their own boat piers. We all took turn about driving the boat and was really nice that every other boat driver would all wave to us and other boaters when they went by. We set anchor and Matt had a little go at trying to catch some fish, but wasn't having any luck. So we carried on further down the river and we found a small island paradise. I took off and went exploring and Matt carried on with his attempt at fishing but all the little fish were eating his bait.
We also took a drive down to Noosa Spit and think we saw a Ray in the water but could not get a clear view or picture of it. Altogether Noosa was a great place to go and we both had a fantastic weekend there. We eneded our day sun bathing on the beach and then took our two hour road trip back to Brisbane.
This weekend coming we are going away again to Stradbrooke island and hopefully the weather will be as nice as the weather we had in Noosa. We are hoping to do a bit of snorkeling this time and hopefully will not see any sharks or if we do from a very long distance away.
Will update again about our weekend in Stradbrooke soon.
We hope all is well back in England.
Love Laurie and Matt
