My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Romania | Sunday, January 13, 2013 | 5 photos
Dear Nomads, I’m Laura and I’m happy to apply for this scholarship as I can tell my story to an exquisite audience from the Southern Hemisphere. My pictures were made in Romania on the picturesque site of the Transylvanian village of Rosia Montana. I discovered this magical place and its real story last summer and I still say it was one the best things that I’ve done in the last few years. I would never call myself a photographer; probably a picture taker would be a more suitable term. When I was an Erasmus student in Spain, I had the pleasure to take on a Photography class and that was the only formal photography study I’ve attended. When I read about the scholarship and Jason emphasizing that the photos should be able to tell a story, really made me jump. I’m that kind of traveler who loves to understand a place, who is passionate about strangers and curious about their life, their story. And after all, there aren’t courses in the entire world that could teach you that. It really is up to the individual what they can absorb and how they can represent it. In that sense, I invite you to see Rosia Montana with my eyes and my mind! May you have a nice trip!
