Day 7

GREECE | Wednesday, 30 June 2010 | Views [266] | Comments [3]

We woke up, had breakfast, got some tiropites and went to the school. The tiropites were amazing. Unfortunately at school the internet was down today due to there being a strike and the company shutting off the internet. We did the lessons that we had to and finished school for the day.

After school we went to a supermarket to stock up on some food and get more bottled water. On our way back we went back to the hotel we stopped off at a yiros place and got some takeaway yiros’. When we got back to the hotel we realised that they had forgotten to make mine. Luckily every fast food place here delivers so we called them up, told them they forgot one and they delivered for free.

After our yiros we all got on a chartered bus to go to saint savvas’ church. The archbishop organised the bus for us the day before, we also got recognised everywhere we went today after being on TV last night... I’m kind of a big deal in Kalymnos.

Anyway, we got to saint savvas’ church which has the best views of kalymnos, I took plenty of pictures and saw the body of saint Savvas... I even took some sneaky pictures where we weren’t meant to.

After this church we went to another on the other side of the island, the views along the drive were amazing, they almost made up for not being able to flush toilet paper, but unfortunately my camera had run out of battery. We also saw heaps of goats along the road and I saw a little lizard

We ended up at a little village church where we had to stand and listen for about 2 hours. I spent most of the time staring at a little cave in the distance with some kind of birds of prey flying around it. After the service however we had goat and potatoes which was quite delicious. We went to a cafe/bar for the rest of the night and eventually came back to our hotel.

Hi Daniel
Love reading your blog - can't wait for the update. Can I give your link to Georgia's mum? Went to Emily's 18th - great party despite it being 4 degrees in the moonlight (lovely clear, star light- filled sky was barely a match to the beautifully decorated garden. Love M
