We arrived in Doha having made two new friends, a girl our
age from Melbourne who was going to Athens and a 21yr old Spaniard who had
lived in Melbourne for the past year.
Let me get on to talking about Doha airport, in short it was
... terrible, tiny with only one shop, the toilets were disgustingly filthy and
we couldn’t sneak into any of the classy lounges. At least I got two new
facebook friends out of it and we all know how important having many, many
facebook friends is.
We arrived in Athens at 6:15pm, the 5hr flight over wasn’t
as nice as the Melbourne-Doha flight, but was still comfortable enough.
Georgia’s uncle and his daughter picked us up from the
airport and drove us into the city where he dropped Georgia, Georgia’s cousin
and me off so we could see the city. Athens. Unfortunately the acropolis was
closed but we still when as close as we could to it so we could get some
photos, we also checked out the main shopping street and another smaller
touristy shopping street, where i managed to find the only knife shop. I’m now
determined to buy a decent quality cretian knife and send it home (because i
might get arrested if i try to bring a knife to London with me.) We also got
the see the guards at parliament house. I was also amused by the stray dogs, i
was expecting scraggly looking things but the few I saw were quite large and
well fed.(probably around 20-30 kilos.)
We spent the night at Georgia’s uncle’s where he fed us let
us and let his use his shower. His daughter and him gave us their bedrooms to
sleep in and they slept on the couch which was very generous of them.
